What will the Cité de l’Économie et de la Monnaie offer ? A space dedicated to economic culture, presenting economic, monetary and financial notions and mechanisms in a playful, pedagogical and interactive way. A public space where topical questions relating to current affairs can be answered and discussed. A place offering educators and their students illustrations of the notions and issues examined in class. A space where collections of coins, banknotes and machines for their fabrication can be exhibited – particularly those issued or manufactured by the Banque de France, explaining the link between these historical objects and contemporary economic topics.

Current issues and debates
“If you put two economists in a room, you get two opinions” (Winston Churchill). Debate, argument and conflicting opinions are an inherent part of economic science. Some examples that help us to grasp the major issues of the day and form our own opinions.
Collections
In support of its principal objective (to present economic notions, mechanisms and major debates in a pedagogical and interactive format), the Cité de l’Économie et de la Monnaie will exhibit collections of coins, banknotes (and machines used in their manufacture) alongside a range of objects used by the banking profession. Notably, the Banque de France will be exhibiting a selection of its collections for the first time on a permanent basis. There will also be elements on loan from other museums. Teacher’s corner
Aimed primarily at teachers, some pedagogical resources in order to contribute to the preparation of classes. When the Cité de l’Économie et de la Monnaie is open, specific resources of this type will be elaborated and made available to visitors prior to their visits so that teachers may prepare their students for the experience. These resources will also be offered in the framework of pedagogical workshops at the city, or to allow the subsequent development of the questions and themes evoked during a visit.
