The Musée de Bretagne presented the exhibition “the Bretons and money” until October 30th 2011, in Rennes.
Conferences, debates, projections, tale-reading, guided visits: the exhibition was organized around seven thematic areas which analyzed the daily life of Bretons throughout the historical role of money, savings and trade since the Ancien Regime.
This retrospective started with the 15th and 16th centuries, at the time of the cloth-traders’ financial success.
Over 300 objects were presented. The daily use of money in the family, at the village, within professional relationships or towards institutions (with the taxes, the funds collected for parishes, etc.) was explained to the visitor.
